Forgiveness:
the best gift this Christmas Christmas
is a time of celebration, a time for family. We spend so much time and money on
finding just the right gifts for everyone; of course we don’t always get it
right! But
with forgiveness you can’t fail to get it right. Everyone benefits! Holding a
grudge often hurts you more than it hurts them; ‘Resentment
is like taking poison and waiting for the other person to die’. Malachy McCourt It
is natural to feel angry and resentful towards people that have hurt you. Sometimes
it is possible to resolver your differences, but what if you can’t? What if the
pain is just too much, or the person that hurt us won’t change, or they are no
longer in our life? What if the person you can’t forgive is yourself? We
can hold onto our resentment and anger long after the event. However justified
our anger is, it often hurts us more than the other person. It can affect our health
and it can prevent us moving forward with our lives. Studies have shown that
people who can forgive are happier and healthier! Forgiveness
is not condoning the hurtful actions of others. It is not forgetting that we
have been hurt. It is not allowing others to continue hurting us. Forgiveness
is setting yourself free. Christmas
can be a time when past feuds or disagreements rise to the surface. So whether it’s
a family member, an ex or even yourself, why not choose forgiveness this
Christmas. If
you are struggling to forgive and need some help to release the pain and
resentment, EFT is the perfect tool to help you do just that. (If you’re new to EFT click here for
